On the occasion of the bicentenary of Antonia’s birth
In the midst of the bicentennial of our beloved founder’s birth, which began on March 16, 2022, we continue in September the celebration of the life of Antonia Maria de Oviedo y Schönthal: We will engage in a dialogue, highlighting her contributions to the transformation of the role of women in the mid-nineteenth century.
For this purpose, we will hold the online conference “Strength and Charisma of a Woman”, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m (Spanish peninsular time) on September 17 and 18, 2022.
The talk will begin with an educational component, which will be given by Mexican historian and professor María de Lourdes Ibarra y Herrerías from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México, and by Mallorcan historian and professor Pere Fullana Puigserver, Mallorcan from the University of the Balearic Islands (Spain).
Values and pedagogy
We will focus on her personality, her values, her faith experience and her pedagogy in accompanying women suffering from exclusion, poverty and prostitution, which we value as a gift from God to society and the Church and a legacy that we welcome today.
The commemoration of the 200th birthday of our founder gives us the opportunity to spread her life and story, and above all, her cause for beatification: that she be recognized as a reference of holiness in the Church based on her commitment in solidarity with women on the margins of society.
It is also a propitious moment to continue to promote the charisma and mission of the Oblate Sisters of the Most Holy Redeemer, now present in 15 countries.
How to participate
This activity is open to all who wish to participate. We appreciate diffusion of the call among acquaintances, groups, educational institutions, etc. It is important to register online before September 10 at the following link:
